Rev. Darryl Handy

"We all have a story and we're all living a story. Not everyone has people in their lives that will listen to really hear them. I want to live into Jesus' example of lovingly listening - beyond the noise of life."

Through years of pastoral ministry (voluntary and vocational), Rev. DH has dedicated his life to helping people know Jesus and love others the way he did โ€” through the practice of deep, intentional listening. His work bridges scripture, communication, and human connection with the hope of reflecting the heart of God.

Currently completing doctoral research, Rev. DH brings academic rigor to his mission so the world can see and experience people who reflect Jesus in every part of life.

Heard. Moved. Changed.

Rev. DH's sermons don't just speak to you โ€” they make you stop and actually listen to what God has been saying all along.

The Listening Assessment was eye-opening. I didn't realize how often I was 'hearing' without actually listening until I took it.

Having access to these sermons as a podcast is such a gift. I listen on my commute and arrive at work grounded and ready.

Listening Like Jesus

Jesus Christ loved people well, in part, through how he listened to them. We believe that learning to listen like Jesus can be as loving โ€” and sometimes more loving โ€” than speaking. And that hearing who people are is often a big part of helping them see who God is and experience God for themselves.

The Hear the Heart logo is made up of four question marks and one heart. In John's Gospel, Jesus' use of questions is clearly on display โ€” through them, he got to the heart of people and shared the heart of his message. Everything we do here is dedicated to helping people listen like Jesus.
